Perspectives/Red Cell wins Texaco promotion work

LONDON - Perspectives/Red Cell has been appointed by ChevronTexaco as its European promotional marketing agency.

Perspectives/Red Cell will work alongside sister agencies Young & Rubicam, Wunderman and Mediaedge:cia, which won the oil giant's $150m (拢90m) global account last year.

The agency's first assignment is to create one of the UK's biggest promotions by bringing together two other leading brands, Virgin Radio and British car firm MG, which is to give away a car a day throughout October.

The campaign is designed to drive traffic on to Texaco forecourts and is backed by a television advertising campaign, point of sale and MG car displays in 1,200 Texaco Service Stations, on-air Virgin Radio promotion and mailings to the Texaco loyalty card holders. The campaign is also designed to extend across key European markets.

Miles Murphy, chief executive of Perspectives/Red Cell, said: "This is the first of a programme of promotional marketing for Chevron Texaco that will be created and delivered across markets. We are delighted to have secured the partnership of both Virgin Radio and MG for our campaign."

The UK advertising creative account was previously handled by HHCL & Partners, which has since become the Red Cell creative agency in the UK following WPP's deal to buy 49% of the agency from Lord Bell's Chime.

Perspectives/Red Cell already handled promotional business for Texaco in the UK.
