Penguin's teen books website and Bebo are asking school children how to better represent minorities in the natonial reading list, which authors make the grade and which should be in permanent detention.

Spinebreakers and Bebo want to know whether teenagers think they would have done better in their exams if authors on the approved reading lists were more relevant.

The best suggestions will be presented to Ed Balls, Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families. Authors including Cathy Cassidy and Jeremy Strong have recorded videos with their reading list suggestions for the site.

Spinebreakers is the first community for book-lovers that is both for teens and by teens. It encourages young people to genuinely engage with the books, authors and characters that they love, as well as exploring their own creativity.
