Panasonic unleashes giant pigeon on UK cities

LONDON - Panasonic has created a pigeon eight times bigger than normal as part of a campaign to promote its new Lumiz ZX-1 digital camera, with has an 8x optical zoom lens.

Panasonic asked AKQA to create buzz around the launch and came up with the '8x Life' campaign was devised to drive traffic to a .

Along with the giant pigeon, AKQA commissioned models of a postbox, a coffee cup, a traffic cone and a conker, placing them in busy areas of London, Edinburgh, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol and Birmingham.

People are invited to upload their pictures of the giant sculptures to the Facebook group, for a chance to win a trip to the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Winter Games.
 
Mark Robinson, head of Lumix marketing at Panasonic, said: "We are looking forward to seeing how people interact with the larger than life installations and we hope everyone has a bit of fun as well. Taking everyday objects and magnifying them highlights the impressive results that are possible thanks to our ultra wide angle lens and super zoom compact camera, the Lumix ZX1."
