Palmer to exploit new media for Emap's pop titles

LONDON - Emap is looking at new ways of using broadband and mobile phones to promote its pop magazine brands and has appointed director Stephen Palmer to the new role of strategic business development director.

Palmer was previously the managing director of pop titles at Emap Performance.

Reporting to Marcus Rich, the managing director of Emap Performance, Palmer will develop a broadband and mobile strategy and run the interactive team while the managing director, Andrea Kilbourn, is on maternity leave.

Palmer will also work alongside Shirley Renwick, the managing director of Emap Performance TV, on developing Emap's TV business, which includes the Box, Smash Hits and Q music stations.

Rich said: "With Stephen in the role, we get the benefit of someone who has considerable marketing, research and strategic planning skills coupled with a really deep knowledge of Emap Performance.

"He is uniquely placed to prepare the strategy for the next stage in the development of our TV and interactive businesses."
