The website also carries reviews, previews, news and video content. Users can set up alerts and SMS reminders for radio and television free of charge, and can search for cinema listings by film, location and cinema chain, or read information on film casts, actors' biographies and film plots.

OntheBox.com claims to be the UK's most comprehensive entertainment listings site, citing 1.5 million unique users and more than 5 million page views a month.

TV listings have been simplified and users are able to customise the layouts and save the setting for return visits. The site offers recommended listings by sector, as well as the ability to highlight programmes by genre.

The expanded editorial team will produce exclusive content across the site, including daily TV recommendations, inside news, analyses, features and film and TV reviews.

By subscribing to a weekly newsletter, OntheBox.com's users can keep up to date without having to search the site themselves.

Ads on the site are sold by Media Corporation-owned Eyeconomy.
