
The proportion of consumers' online spend on consumer goods such as microwaves and kettles was 23.6% in June, above pre-recession levels of 22.4% in June 2008. On fashion it was up from 15.9% pre-recession to 17.8%, while on financial services products, it was up from 4.1% to 9.9%. And the proportion of consumers' online spend on groceries was also up, from 17.5% pre-recession to 21.1%.
However, the average spend per person on many product categories each month has dropped. Average online spend per month on consumer goods dropped from £11.60 pre-recession to £6.04 in June. On fashion items, it was down from £29.92 to £20.84.
