Hesketh will work across the three major out-of-home agencies, WPP-owned Kinetic, Aegis Media’s Posterscope, and Interpublic-owned IPM, and their associated media agencies, and will focus on developing the business of key clients.
Hesketh will also look after the responsibilities of Claire Shooman, head of digital at Ocean Outdoor, including working with creative agencies, while Shooman is on maternity leave.
Most recently, Hesketh worked at creative design and production agency MJ Impressions as a business director. Prior to MJ Impressions, he led the client strategy division at outdoor media owner JCDecaux from July 2004 to May 2010.
Iain Chapman, sales director at Ocean Outdoor, said: "Rob has a track record for pushing the boundaries of what is possible in outdoor. Combining his experience with Ocean’s high-profile portfolio of assets puts us in pole position to offer our customers innovative solutions in a diverse and evolving marketplace."
Hesketh's experience also includes stints at ITV, Classic FM and Pearl & Dean, the cinema sales house.
He said: "Today’s advertisers need to be even more inventive and inspired. Ocean’s portfolio allows for exactly the kind of show-stopping street creative that only outdoor can deliver to brands."
Last week, Ocean Outdoor appointed Keith Crisp, former Viacom Brand Solutions vice-president and director of regional and international investments, as associate director, with responsibility for poster specialists and agencies outside of London.
