LONDON – Mobile phone users may soon be able to watch 16 live TV channels on their handsets if a six-month trial involving O2 and NTL is a success.
Multimedia phones with 16 TV channels, as yet to be decided, will be handed out to 500 O2 customers in Oxford next year.
If the trial proves successful it will pave the way for the new technology to be introduced in a new wave of mobile, digital TV handsets.
Sony and Nokia are to provide the technology for the trial.
