NSPCC launches new website alongside celebrity ads

LONDON - Children's charity NSPCC has launched a website to encourage children to share their problems as part of a campaign featuring celebrities such as Graham Norton, Ms Dynamite and Thierry Henry.

The is an online version of a booklet published by the charity called 'Worried? Need to talk?'. It is aimed at 11- to 16-year-olds and gives them advice on sharing their feelings if they are feeling anxious.

The NSPCC has conducted research that says children and young people are always worrying about something and many children find it stressful having no one to talk to.

Mary March, chief executive of the NSPCC, said: "Too many young people stay silent about child abuse and other problems because they are too confused or scared to speak out. But keeping quiet only shields abusers while causing young people an untold amount of stress and isolation. Talking is essential because it can help stop abuse."

The site is part of the "someone to turn to" campaign, which includes advertising created by Saatchi & Saatchi. The ads build on the idea of silence and speaking out, showing normally noisy situations, such as a school assembly and a crowd at a football match, in complete silence.

The ads also feature celebrities usually known for their ability to talk, such as Norton, Radio One DJ Sara Cox and the football commentators Alan Hansen and Gary Lineker. There are print executions and banner ads, as well as the television campaign.
