Amadi, who is group director of fundraising at the RNIB and chair of the Institute of Fundraising, will be responsible for the NSPCC's annual fundraising income of nearly £150m.
The former director of fundraising at Sense will take up the role in January following the retirement of Giles Pegram in April after 30 years in the role. Amadi will work alongside Pegram until he steps down.
Amadi said: ‘The NSPCC has in recent times set the benchmark for innovative, challenging and effective fundraising. I feel privileged and honoured to have been entrusted with this incredible legacy.'
Beginning his fundraising career at NCH (now Action for Children), Amadi later became deputy director of public affairs at Leonard Cheshire. He was then director of fundraising at Sense for more than four years before joining RNIB as group director of fundraising in June 2006.
He has been a trustee of the Institute of Fundraising since July 2006 and was appointed chair of the trustees in July 2008.
