NME launches transatlantic tour

LONDON - NME is launching its first transatlantic tour by taking the NME Rock‘n' Roll Riot Tour, which features bands including The Enemy, from the UK to the US.

The tour, which is sponsored by O2 in partnership with Samsung, will start in the UK on September 27 and run until October 20, covering 18 university towns, playing in venues from the Oxford Zodiac to the Birmingham Academy.

The Enemy will headline the UK part of the tour, supported by new acts including east London MC Lethal Bizzle and Liverpudlian rock act The Wombats.

The tour moves to the US on October 21 , where Brooklyn band The Hold Steady will headline, in support of their latest album 'Boys and Girls in America'.

Brit art-rockers Art Bruit will open the tour in Providence, while New York's Demander, Brooklyn's Federale, LosAngeles' The Blood Arm and Scotland's 1990s will all feature on various dates during the tour.

Steve Sutherland, IPC Ignite editorial director, said: "NME.com attracts a large and enthusiastic community of American music fans and it's growing by the day.

"We are pleased to be able to bring them the same love and excitement that we bring to the UK scene and we see the NME Rock'n'Roll Riot Tour as the first of many such activities that NME.com will stage in the USA."

Earlier this year, the IPC-owned title hosted events at South by South West and 'NME Presents Kaiser Chiefs' tour, in the US.

Paul Cheal, Publishing director, said: "Following our highly successful assault on South by South West and the 'NME Presents Kaiser Chiefs' tour in the US earlier this year, we're now able to start exporting our established tours stateside -- and in particular give our US NME.com users the opportunity to interact further with the NME brand."
