The 12 for 2012 programme is open to students from the UK and around the world, who will gain experience of key sporting and cultural events taking place in the UK this summer, including the Olympics and Wimbledon.
The initiative is backed by Nick de Bois MP, chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for UK events. He said he is "delighted" to see the investment in young students by offering practical training.
"The scholarship programme will help enable 12 of the most dedicated applicants to learn from the UK’s world-class events and create an enduring legacy. It is crucial that the industry responds to future challenges by supporting more professional training at all levels and this contribution is very welcome indeed," he commented.
To promote the scholarship programme abroad, EBA has teamed up with international stakeholders including VisitBritain, Eventia, the Event and Entertainment Management Association in India and the Organising Committee of the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games in Russia.
Jeff Hunter, managing director of EBA, said the academy is excited to be offering the scholarship places at "such a defining time" for the industry.
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime learning opportunity that will inspire young people from around the world to get ahead in this growing, dynamic and increasingly global industry," he said.
