The dinner will be co-chaired by Nick de Bois MP, chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Events, and Michael Hirst, chair of the Business Visits & Events Partnership. It aims to create a closer partnership between government and industry to boost the sector's international competitiveness.

Industry attendees include Fay Sharpe, managing director of Zibrant; Kevin Murphy, chief executive of Excel London; Jonny Sullens, portfolio director of the Confex Group; and Jane Longhurst, chief executive of MIA.

They will be joined by MPs Bob Blackman (Harrow East), Bob Stewart (Beckenham), Steve Brine (Winchester & Chandlers Ford) and Tom Greatrex (Rutherglen & Hamilton West).
