Newsquest's websites attract 5.1m users in April

LONDON - Newsquest Media Group's network of local websites, including SouthWalesArgus.co.uk and EveningTimes.co.uk, attracted the group's largest audience to date in April with more than 5.1m unique users, according to ABCe figures.

The 164 website extensions of Newsquest's local and regional newspaper brands also registered 53.7m page impressions, according to ABCe figures to be published this week.

Roger Green, managing director of Newsquest Digital Media, said: "Since our first published audit in 2005 we have consistently improved our online penetration of the towns, cities and communities we serve with our local media brands.

"With a series of enhancements planned throughout this summer we expect considerably to increase the power of that interaction in all possible formats: print, online and mobile."

"It's more than just growing numbers: we have broadened our reach to more local audiences by attracting a younger, more affluent crowd from higher-income households than are typical for newspaper readers."

Newsquest comprises almost 300 newspapers in the UK including 17 daily papers, including The Herald and Evening Times in Scotland, the Daily Echo in Bournemouth and the South Wales Argus.
