Mums Show Live will be held in May 2013 and is headed by Franks, who founded a new company to run the exhibition and hopes to expand it around the country and possibly to a worldwide franchise.
It will be the first consumer exhibition aimed at parents of 4–12 year-olds in the UK, filling a gap in the market according to organisers.
The event will target parents from Greater London and the south east of England and hopes to bring in 20-30,000 visitors over three and a half days.
The show will feature areas such as Conversation Theatres where parents can ask questions, an Interactive Marketplace showcasing products like clothing and entertainment, a School Gate area with education services.
Franks, managing director of the show, said: "Parenting exhibitions have traditionally been aimed at the parents of newborns, but many parents are looking for support throughout the pre-teen period which is what we are aiming to provide through exhibits, entertainment and the opportunity for dialogue with experts and fellow parents.
He added: "So far the response has been phenomenal and we’re going to spend the coming months confirming the exhibitors, partners, experts and celebrities that will bring the event to life."
Lucy Fenner, head of client sales at Alexandra Palace said: "We can’t wait to host this new show next year, which will make use of the large pillar free halls and the smaller meeting rooms for seminars. It is great that Mums Show Live will make use of the full character and history on offer at the palace."
