New database targets 1m prospects for car scrappage allowance

LONDON - Scientia Data has launched an automotive prospect file called Active Auto 10-Year in response to the government's Scrappage Incentive Allowance (SIA).

The car scrappage scheme was introduced on 18 May to arrest the sliding sales of cars. By the end of May, 35,000 new cars had been sold thanks to the scheme.

Aimed at car makers and dealerships, Active Auto 10-Year profiles single people, families and mature people who qualify for the SIA – that is, people who have owned a pre-1999 model vehicle for over 12 months.

Scientia claims the 1.1 million prospect records on the file are transactionally active and have high credit scores.

With new car sales slumping by over 30 per cent since January, we were approached by several clients wanting a bespoke combination of vehicle registration information, transactional data and credit scoring in order to boost sales and take advantage of the Scrappage Incentive Allowance, said Scientia Data’s managing director, Dawn Orr.

The records extend across all UK regions and include postal, e-mail, telephone and SMS/mobile contact information.

Variables on Active Auto 10-Year include vehicle type, geo-banding, age or income, available through until March 2010, the SIA’s current termination date.

Of the £2000 discount to car buyers under the scheme, £1000 is to be funded by the government, whilst the remaining £1000 is to come from the car dealers themselves.
