National Express taps Brahm for massive rail push

LONDON – National Express Group has appointed Brahm Direct Marketing to launch the largest rail ticket offer ever made in Britain.

Set to kick off on August 16, the National Express Group is encouraging millions of people to use the train this summer by giving away more than 5m free return rail tickets, which are to be door-dropped to homes across the country.

Working closely with National Express, Brahm Direct Marketing has managed the massive door-drop of the free tickets on behalf of the seven train operators taking part in the Getaway Giveaway promotion.

The operators taking part are Central Trains, c2c, Midland Mainline, the new One Railway, which incorporates the former Anglia and Great Eastern franchises, Silverlink, Wagn and Wessex Trains.

Almost one in four households in England and Wales will find a free return rail ticket landing on their doormat from August 16, encouraging them to use the train rather than sit in the traditional holiday traffic jams.

David Marsh, head of Brahm Direct Marketing, said: "This activity is testament to our ability and experience in leisure and tourism marketing and to Brahm's ability to manage integrated marketing campaigns."

The door-drops form part of a wider campaign incorporating Brahm Promotional Marketing, which negotiated newspaper promotions in the Evening Standard, and Brahm PR, which planned the PR for the Getaway Giveaway campaign.
