From 2-8 April the charity will open pop-ups at seven locations, to promote its work with autistic adults and children across the country, as well as provide members of the public with the opportunity to find out how NAS is helping people in their local area.

Each shop will sell a variety of handmade gifts, crafts and art, and attendees will be able to buy the charity's new range of clothing, which has been designed by a competition winner.

The first pop-up will open at Café Autisan in Lancashire on 2 April, followed by Suffolk, Cardiff, Godalming, Covent Garden, Leicester and Aberdeenshire, where the event will finish on 8 April.

Carol Povey, director, Centre for Autism at The National Autistic Society told Event: These pop-up shops provide a unique opportunity to showcase the brilliant work of autistic people, ranging from wonderful artwork to fudge-making.

"It will offer a place for local people to enjoy a coffee and cake while learning a little more about autism and how it can affect people, as well as providing an autism-friendly space for autistic people and their families."

Last year the charity  at its stores, as part of World Autism Awareness week. The charity raised over £235,395 as a result of the campaign, and over 5,000 people took part.
