Event TV: Behind-the-scenes at the world's first MicroChippy

Event spoke to Charlotte Speedy, communications director at Dogs Trust, about the charity's MicroChippy pop-up, which was unveiled at a special launch event in London last Wednesday (10 February).

The pop-up aims to educate Brits about the upcoming change in microchipping legislation, which comes into effect in April.

She explained the MicroChippy serves up dishes for humans and dogs alike. "What it is, is a pop-up diner that is dog friendly in the heart of London, so you can come along on your Valentine’s weekend and enjoy a gorgeous hot dog in association with Bubbledogs the champagne bar."

Speedy added that the experience is tailored around the needs of customers' furry friends. "Everything from the bowls, to the menu and the seating, everything has dogs in mind primarily."

The 1950s-style diner offers a dog-friendly hotdog devised by Sandia Chang, chef and owner of Bubbledogs, who has also devised three bespoke hot dogs for humans to devour.

The space features yellow and white striped booths that both human and canine can enjoy, along with non-slip bowls that are fastened to tables for eating, water bowls and doggy beanbags, all of which are designed to make guests' furry friends feel at ease.

Dogs Trust enlisted agency Surname & Surname to create the concept, which is avalable to experience over Valentine's weekend only (13-14 February). A £12 ticket entitles guests to a hotdog, side and beverage, and all proceeds will be donated to the dog welfare charity.
