MTV Network's Chris Hancox to leave Comedy Central

LONDON - Chris Hancox, vice-president of marketing and creative services at MTV Network's Comedy Central, is set to leave the company after 10 years after a restructure.

Hancox has been responsible for all Comedy Central's UK branding activities, including working with Karmarama on its rebrand from Paramount Comedy last April.

Following the relaunch, the channel's ratings increased 50% year on year and peak-time viewing rose 65%. Website page impressions increased by 50%.

Hancox's departure is understood to be by "mutual consent" following the restructure. He is not believed to have a new role to go to.

The popular marketing leader was most recently responsible for driving Comedy Central's first UK commission, ‘Dirty Sexy Funny' last month.

Hancox has worked at MTV Networks since 2000, beginning as research director at Paramount Comedy, before being promoted to his current role.

Before joining MTV Networks, Hancox was a research manager at United Artists Programming for two years.

Aimed at 16-to 34-year-olds, Comedy Central is available on pay-TV platforms Sky and Virgin Media, and airs American comedy programmes such as ‘South Park' and ‘Two and a Half Men', alongside side stand-up from artists including Alan Carr and Russell Howard.

Comedy Central declined to comment.
