Beeb@theBBC has signed up MSN as its first-ever content distribution
partner. The BBC’s commercial web site will be featured on the MSN UK
portal site (www.msn.co.uk), which will provide links through to the beeb
site (www.beeb.com).
”For us, it’s about expanding our audience,” said BBC Worldwide director
of new media Jeremy Mayhew. ”We’re trying to do something different
online, use distribution relationships to reach out to different markets.
It’s not about people saying: ’I’m buying a car, I’ll go to Top Gear’;
it’s about them going to MSN and seeing what’s there. We want to take our
users beyond the review process to the point where they can transact. The
easiest way to do that is through relationships.”
