The caterer will bring in a gross revenue of £42,000 between 2–5 June through catering eight large Jubilee events, whereas it made £12,000 for two events during the same period in 2011.
Moving Venue will serve 1,500 guests at jubilee celebrations, which is also resulting in an increased labour spend of 65% on its full and part time workforce.
Richard Beggs, managing director of Moving Venue, said the revenue boost defied negative media coverage of the additional bank holiday on 5 June. "Last year the Royal Wedding was considered an overindulgence of expenditure and the additional bank holiday frivolous. Recently the media reported a likely £8bn loss to the country for the cost of the forthcoming Diamond Jubilee. This loss was again linked to the media’s view of another unnecessary bank holiday.
"Aside from the great pride Moving Venue detects amongst clients, suppliers and staff in the British feel good factor, many companies have elected to celebrate the achievements of our Queen with stunning events over the forthcoming celebration weekend. This has enabled Moving Venue to enjoy an additional boost in weekend revenue - £44,000 from just £12,000 in 2011.
"This is a trend likely to be common in all parts of our industry. What a welcome change to the double dip recession and Greek crisis, both of which the media regularly updates us on. Hopefully our industry’s good fortune will be picked up by the media and reported on."
Moving Venue’s work this weekend includes catering for 470 guests watching the river procession from Cannon Bridge Roof Gardens. It is also working with Thames Luxury Charters, , to serve seven boats carrying VIP guests including members of the Royal family during the river pageant.
