Movers and shakers: McCann, Lida, WCRS, Oath, The Times, Moonpig, Guardian News & Media and more

McCann London has hired former WCRS creative leader Ross Neil as executive creative director. Neil will work alongside chief creative officers Rob Doubal and Laurence Thomson to help run McCann’s creative department. He was previously the joint executive director at WCRS, where he spent 11 years before leaving in in February. McCann has also hired creative duo Ran Stallard and Jenna Morrissey from Ogilvy and Jessica Hayes as head of talent. Lisa Carrana has been promoted to deputy head of art.

Lida chief executive Victoria Fox has resigned and there are question marks over the future of long-serving chairman Matthew Heath. Fox is leaving the business after five years to pursue new opportunities in the industry, according to a statement from the agency. Heath, who has been with Lida parent M&C Saatchi Group since 2004, is in talks with the agency over his future role, but it is understood that the parent company is keen for him to stay.

WCRS executive creative director Billy Faithfull has been promoted to the new role of chief creative officer of the Engine Group. Engine has also hired Paul Jordan to lead WCRS as executive creative director. Jordan will join from Mcgarrybowen where he is joint executive creative director. Faithfull started at WCRS in 2005 with former creative partner Ross Neil. They were promoted to joint executive creative directors in 2014.

Oath has appointed Anna Watkins as UK managing director and country commercial director. Watkins joins from Mofilm where she was global chief executive and director. Before that, she was managing director at the Guardian News & Media Group’s branded content arm; Guardian Labs. She will join Oath on 2 July, replacing Nigel Clarkson who left the company last December following an internal investigation.

Caroline Tredget is joining The Times and The Sunday Times as the sales director from ESI where she has spent most of her career. Over the past 17 years at ESI she has held a variety of senior positions, working her way up to chief revenue officer.

Moonpig has made a number of senior hires. Jo McClintock has joined as brand marketing director after five years at Lebara, where she was global brand director. Ronan Tighe joins in the newly created role of chief product officer, looking after digital product and UX.  He previously headed up product management at Net-a-Porter & Mr Porter. Simon Doggett takes the role of head of experience design having previously worked in similar roles at Farfetch and M&S.

Mindshare has promoted Ruth Zohrer and Alan Weetch to its leadership team, as part of a plan to evolve its planning offer across the UK.  Zohrer, previously head of connections planning at Mindshare, will take on the newly created role of chief product officer. Weetch will take on the role of chief of planning operations, where he will be tasked with leading the planning department.

Independent media agency network Local Planet has made a number of appointments to support its expansion. Dr Wayne Fletcher, formerly of Naked Communications, McCann World Group and Aegis, has been appointed as global chief strategy officer. Uli Kramer, founding partner of Pilot in Germany, has expanded his responsibilities adding the role of global chief digital officer of Local Planet. Sandra Sydow, most recently global business director at PHD, joins as global media & business director and will take responsibility for leading Local Planet’s portfolio of international clients.

Guardian News & Media (GNM)has appointed Catherine Brien as chief data officer. She will be a member of GNM’s executive committee. Brien was previously director of data science at The Co-operative Group for two years, having previously spent sixteen years at consultancy firm Oliver Wyman.

MCI UK has hired Bamboo Creative co-founder and managing director Tom Cowan as director of client services. MCI Experience has also appointed Frances Hulme as strategic marketing and communication manager to grow the MCI Experience brand marketing incubator and client portfolio in London. Hulme previously managed the marketing of six events brands and the PR communications for the Concerto Group.

Global media advisory firm MediaSense has named Lea Cecil as client director. Cecil joins MediaSense from The & Partnership, whereas business director she led the Toyota EMEA account.

Mobile market research platform OnePulse has appointed Guy Oliver as enterprise sales director and Mark Bridgens as product development manager. Oliver was previously head of sales at the Market Research Society, while Bridgens was product director at Analogue.Digital.

We Are Social has appointed Paul Rider to the newly-created role of head of art. Rider rejoins We Are Social, where he formerly worked as senior art director for adidas for nearly four years, following a stint at KITE Eyewear in the same role. He will report to executive creative director Alistair Campbell.
