
Carlsberg UK has appointed former Landor Associates executive director Liam Newton to the newly created role of vice president marketing. Newton is a drinks industry marketing veteran, having held senior roles at InBev, Bacardi Martini, and UK distribution partnership Bacardi Brown Forman Brands before joining Landor in 2014. He also spent six years at Nestle Rowntree.
He succeeds interim marketing director David Scott, who left Carlsberg last month after nine years with the company. Carlsberg confirmed that former marketing director Darran Britton left the company last year.
Facebook has appointed BETC chief executive Andrew Stirk as its head of planning, a global role overseeing the social media giant’s own brand planning, based in its Menlo Park headquarters near San Francisco.
Ella Dolphin, the group commercial director at Hearst UK, has been appointed as the chief executive of Shortlist Media, the publisher of ShortList and Stylist. The move means that the co-founder and chief executive of Shortlist Media, Mike Soutar, will become chairman later this year.
Dazed Media’s chief commercial officer Will Hayward has left the company after just 11 months to join Joe Media as its first ever chief executive. Hayward had joined Dazed from Buzzfeed where he held the position vice president, Europe.
Fold7 has completed its leadership team by appointing Yelena Gaufman, head of planning at Havas London, as strategy partner. She will lead a team of five planners at the 50-strong agency, whose clients include Hilton, Gumtree and Carlsberg. Gaufman has been tasked with "defining what strategy means for a 21st-Century agency" and will report to chief executive Marc Nohr when she joins Fold7 next month.
Romano Sidoli, the group advertising director of Time Inc UK’s specialist brands, has been promoted to managing director of the publisher’s innovation group to spearhead large-scale commercial partnerships for NME, Look and Now.
After joining Time Inc in 2001 (when it was known as IPC Media), Sidoli held several senior positions within advertising, before being appointed group advertising director, Specialist in 2012.
Hollie Newton, executive creative director at Sunshine, has left the agency to pursue a career in publishing. She has signed a deal with the Orion Publishing Group-owned Spring, which picked up Newton’s first book How The Fudge Do You Garden? The book followed her popular blog with the same name and will be released early next year.
Rob Bassett, head of UK sales at eBay advertising, has been promoted to head of UK and EU multinational advertising, in a move to align the company’s senior leadership across Europe. He will oversee strategy and operations for eBay’s UK advertising division. Phuong Nguyen, who previously led this department, will become director of EU advertising strategy, product and operations. Jean-Baptiste Goux has been named head of EU business operations and technology across EMEA. He has grown the company’s programmatic offering in the UK.
John Farrell, the former chief of Publicis’ specialized agencies and marketing services, has joined Feed as a non-executive director and chairman. Farrell will be charged with improving the growth strategy at the digital agency, which counts eBay and Gumtree among its clients. Farrell holds a number of non-executive directorships, at Four Communications and The Octopus Group, among others.
Daniel Evans, creative director at All Together Now, has joined We Are Social as associate creative director. The agency has also taken on Dan Vallint-Riggs, senior producer/director at The Moment, as its first shooting director. The pair will work on We Are Social’s main clients such as Google, Heineken and First Direct.
