Movers and shakers: Aviva, Grey, RKCR/Y&R, Initiative and more

Amanda Mackenzie has been appointed as the chief executive of Business in the Community. She has worked at a senior level for FTSE 100 firms across a range of sectors including retail, insurance, energy and technology. Most recently she was chief marketing and communications officer for Aviva. Mackenzie has been on secondment for the past 18 months from Aviva to Project Everyone, a Richard Curtis initiative to realise the UN’s Global Goals. She takes up the BITC post in October.

Grey London’s chairman and chief creative officer Nils Leonard, chief executive Lucy Jameson and managing director Natalie Graeme have resigned from the business. It is believed they are planning to set up their own business. Leo Rayman, previously the chief strategy officer, has been named as the new chief executive.

Initiative UK, the communications network within IPG Mediabrands, has appointed Caroline Siveyer as Strategy Director. She joined the agency on 13 June, and reports to managing director Sally Weavers. Siveyer will create strategies for Initiative UK’s clients and brands alongside the planning teams within the agency. Based in London, she will be working with clients such as Travelodge, Continental Tyres and Slendertone, plus focusing on new business.

Former Asda and Homebase marketing chief Chris McDonough has taken on the role of chief brand officer at US retailer L.L.Bean. He will report to Stephen Smith and sit on the company’s executive board.

RKCR/Y&R has completed its senior management triumvirate by promoting Emily James to the role of chief strategy officer. James, who was previously head of strategy at RKCR/Y&R, joins CEO Jon Sharpe and newly appointed CCO Jonathan Burley on the agency’s executive management team. James, who reports to Sharpe, will oversee and lead the strategic vision for the agency.  She will be replaced in the role of head of strategy by Tamsin Djaba who joined RKCR/Y&R as strategy partner earlier this year from Droga5 and previously was head of innovation at Fallon London.

Crispin Porter & Bogusky London's chief creative officer, Dave Buonaguidi, has hired Cheil UK creative directors Dave Newbold and Jim Eyre, the creative directors on Samsung at Cheil since 2014.

Cheil London has added two hires to its creative department. Nick Craske joins as creative director, working across all the agency's accounts, including Samsung, Coca-Cola, Etihad Airways and Asda. Craske joins from Forever Beta, where he worked in the same role. Georgia Barretta, who takes up the new role of creative director design, joins Cheil from WPP’s global activation agency, Geometry Global, where she was head of design.

Digital Cinema Media has made two new senior sales team hires.  Louise Youll, business director, and Antonio Garcia, client director. as well as a promotion for Jeremy Kolesar, the head of innovation, who becomes creative business director. All will report to DCM’s sales director, Davina Barker. Youll is joining from MEC, where she is currently AV account director, head of cinema and will be business director on Aegis at DCM. Meanwhile Garcia joins from Global, where he worked as entertainment group head.

WeTransfer has hired DJ and music producer Gilles Peterson as its new creative director. Peterson’s role with WeTransfer will see him work across the brand’s marketing and editorial projects, working alongside WeTransfer’s CMO Damian Bradfield to shape its creative strategy.

Leeds digital agency Bolser has appointed psychology graduate Hannah Drakard, from Leeds Metropolitan University, to work with its digital designers and marketers. Drakard has already been involved in a global pitch for an international brand, providing psychological insights into how people absorb information, and learn. Bolser’s clients include Asda, Microsoft, United Nations, BBC and EE.
