How is your new role different to your previous job?
As business development director I am now looking after the entire group and not just the venue, as I did at Ricoh Arena. I will oversee the £9m expansion of The International Centre Telford and help attract companies to use the refurbished space when it is finished in May 2011. The role will also involve building on sales at Stagecraft UK, a venue services company that provides draping and staging nationwide.
Why did you choose this role?
The opportunity to have input in the expansion of The International Centre and Stagecraft UK was simply too good to miss out on. I can't think of another company that is expanding in two markets this year, and looking so far ahead into how the event market is going to adapt to change over the next ten years.
What do you plan to do to make your mark?
I have been making my mark discreetly all through my working life, and probably haven't taken enough credit for my actions, so I shall have to come up with something unique and memorable in this role. All I can say at the moment is "watch this space".
