LONDON - Price comparison site Moneysupermarket.com has made a move into online branded discounts and vouchers following a trial of the service this summer.

The site has launched a new channel with over 10,000 offers and has plans to become the market leader in the online vouchers sector, which has grown significantly during the recession. 

To run the shopping and vouchers channels, Moneysupermarket.com has hired former Shopping.com managing director Mark Guymer.

Offers will be updated on a daily basis and will range from CDs and music, fashion, household accessories, toys and games, DIY, books, food and drink, electricals, theatre tickets and more.

Restaurant vouchers are available from brands such as Pizza Express, La Tasca, and Chiquito.

The site has partnered with online marketing and restaurant reservations service Livebookings to present booking offers from high end restaurants.

The re-launched will be boosted by a strong in-house SEO and SEM campaign, plus a consumer PR campaign in the run up to Christmas.

In a customer survey of 5,000 people, Moneysupermarket found restaurant vouchers were the most popular with 57% of people using them.
