Mile High events launch in London

Taking escapism to new heights, organisers of new pop-up dining event Mile High plan to whisk guests away on fantasy city breaks in 2013.

The events combine food, cocktails, music and theatre, and will take place four times this year in secret West London locations. The first will take guests to Gothenburg in March; then to Beirut in May; Sicily in June; and Mozambique in September.

Mile High is organised by four cousins who between them have experience of the event, theatre, culinary, cocktail, music and advertising industries. They will work with art director Duncan Cargill, former creative director of The Hospital Club, to bring the concept to life.

Mile High is inspired by the golden age of 1950s air travel. On arrival, air hostesses in Pan-Am inspired attire will welcome guests to the departure lounge. Diners can enjoy ‘check in’ Campari cocktails and gourmet bar snacks before embarking on their destination.

For the launch event to Gothenburg, ex-Moro chef Oliver Templeton will serve up a Scandinavian four-course feast. Departure lounge smorgasbord snacks will include fresh roe, dark rye sourdough served with smoked reindeer, and pickles.
