Fordola, who was the winner of the first semi-final, managed to beat magician and comedian Kockov in the final at yesterday’s event.
A strong competition saw ten acts battle it out for the prize of £1,000, courtesy of Event UK, and a year-long contract with entertainment agency Sternberg Clarke.
After impressing both the audience and the judges, who included COI director of events Simon Hughes; ISES president Richard Foulkes; Eventia ambassador Izania Downie and Sternberg Clarke managing director Adam Sternberg, Fordola produced a swing version of Oasis’s Wonderwall in the final.
Compered by Event’s editor Jeremy King, The Next Big Thing has been running for three years and previous winners have gone on to star in television’s Britain’s Got Talent and a host of major industry events.
