The Business Visits and Events Partnership (BVEP) launched its meetings and events manifesto last night (15 June), just days after sending it to the Government.

The objective is ‘to make Britain the natural destination choice and an international hub for all sectors of the event industry' by gaining government support through its policies and investment.

It has been sent to 350 MPs that have major events or venues within their constituencies, key government ministers and officials, and 50 members of the House of Lords.

All MPs will be invited to attend a presentation of the manifesto on 20 October at the House of Commons during National Meetings Week, with 100 expected to attend.

"The launch of this manifesto is one of the most significant events for our industry, and begins the process of ensuring this vital sector achieves the voice it so critically needs," said BVEP chair Michael Hirst.

Several MPs have already responded to the BVEP and are keen to join an all parliamentary group on events.
