Summer holiday
As you are all well aware, August is often known as the "silly season" as people tend to take time off, leaving the national press and television news in particular looking around for quirky stories.
With this in mind, and because you cant keep a good news hound down for long (no puns intended), Bitch has still managed to find the odd bit of juicy gossip from the industry.
Of particular note, it came to Bitch’s attention that a number of high-profile figures in the media arena have been converging on the villa of the self-proclaimed "richest media man in Cannes" for their summer holidays.
Bitch hears that among those being allowed the keys to Nick Lockett’s prized sports car collection and his luxurious villa, is Arena’s Charlie Makin. Sadly Bitch managed to lose her camera, so any pictures of this summer media gathering cannot be shown. However, she is certain that champagne, cigars and other frivolity was certainly the name of the game.
Cover star
Back in the UK and complete with pictures, Bitch hears that Men’s Health style director Dan Rookwood has transformed himself into cover model shape in just 16 weeks – see I told you it was silly season. Bitch hears that Rookwood swears that no photoshopping took place (see picture above).
He is no stranger to being a cover star, as back in March 2006, he became the first staffer to appear on the cover.
Charidee
Finally, Bitch hears that those do-gooders at MPG decided to give their summer away day a twist. Rather than the usual fun and frolics in a bar, MPG’s staff were coached out to the company’s Newport Street headquarters, where they got involved in a number of community projects that included decorating rooms, building planters and painting a mural.
At the time of going to press, Bitch was still trying to find out whether the happy workers were secretly glugging on bottles of beer or hip flasks full of vodka, while working.
Either way, it was in aid of giving something back to the community and Bitch likes that.
See you next week.
