Charles Ramsey, the hero of the hour, came to the rescue of Amanda Berry, who was kidnapped in 2003.
Ramsey heard Berry's cries on Seymour Avenue and broke down the door and freed the 26-year-old.
In an interview with a local TV station, Ramsey recounted how he had been eating a McDonald's when he heard a piercing scream from his neighbour's house.
He said: "I went to McDonald's. I came home. I’m eating my McDonald's. I got the day off from work, so naturally you’re doing nothing. And I hear this girl screaming and she’s going nuts."
He had earlier mentioned McDonald's in his 911 call to the authorities and both the interview and the 911 call went viral.
The numerous mentions of the burger chain, which Ramsey continued to mention in various broadcast interviews, led McDonald's to reach out yesterday via Twitter.
McDonald's said it would be in touch in the not too distant future with perhaps some kind of "thank you" or a job opportunity for Ramsey.
An easy win for McDonald's and a good example of a brand listening and saying just enough. The McDonald's tweet has gone on to be shared more than 10,000 times, with 8,221 retweets and 2,081 favourites.
