Scamp Blog
Of all the UK ad blogs, this is the best. Polemic, intelligently written and not anonymous, Scamp (much better name than Simon) isn't afraid to cuss or praise his own work, and this honesty makes it good. He's an ad guy of course, so is wrong about most things, but that's OK, he's entertaining with it.
Butternut Jelly
Hands up, this is run by a friend of mine who works in our US office, and there are lots of bigger, much more popular content blogs out there. But this one always has cool quirky stuff on it that you don't see elsewhere.
Illegal Advertising
A good place to see all the stuff that will never make it onto TV, or even YouTube. Spoofs, sub-virals, ads that are borderline filth and good old-fashioned slapstick - it's all here, nicely presented with entertaining comments (written in bad English).
Life Hacker
My favourite of all the cool-stuff blogs, this is a bit more lifestyle and a bit less tech. It's quite US-centric but the amount of fun, interesting info I've picked up has made me look much cleverer and more switched on than I am, which is the whole point, isn't it?
Cycle Chic
I cycle but I'm not a Lycra-clad weirdo or a fixed-rim trendgaloid so it's quite hard to find gear I like. This blog helps, and it's also good on London. Trouble is, it's annoyingly girly.
Overheard in New York
A great idea that I surely don't need to explain. Suspend disbelief and marvel at the weirdness of other people's conversations. Mother with little girl: "Excuse me. My daughter wants to know if you're a pirate." Woman wearing bandana: "No. I'm just a lesbian."
Rather Good
Accurately describing itself as 'The Lair of The Crab of Ineffable Wisdom', this website is full of brilliant songs, animations, videos, promos for their band, and other goodies, plus weekly updates.
