The drama, commissioned by BBC Interactive Drama & Entertainment (iD&E), will follow the mysterious disappearance of fictional pop star, Jamie Kane, and ask visitors to uncover a series of clues and complete a number of tasks using mobile and interaction online.
A chat room on the site allow users to communicate with the characters in the plot by leaving messages. Jamie Kane uses artificial intelligence to generate messages from other fans on the trail on the pop star and uses video footage of West End actor Simon Bailey as the fictional performer to create an authentic fansite, which incorporates mock performances and media interviews -- including a 'Top of the Pops' one-to-one with presenter Fearne Cotton.
Users have to solve a number of hidden puzzles built by online games agency Preloaded and are given online "tools" to help them complete tasks to discover what has happened to the star -- such as the ability to focus-in on photographs and other evidence. Visitors can sign up for daily updates via email and mobile phone.
The drama was written by Matt Beaumont, who is well known for his novel 'E: a novel', a satire on life at a London advertising agency.
Rob Cooper, senior producer, iD&E said: "Jamie Kane marks a real step difference in the way BBC.co.uk is approaching content.
"We're moving away from static sites to create a rich audio-visual experience for our users which should keep them on their toes as they search for Jamie Kane."
