Saxby was unveiled as the new chair at the association's annual general meeting last Thursday (10 June) at the Grand Connaught Rooms.
Taking over from Mark Taylor, Saxby said: "Our membership continues to go from strength to strength and I am fortunate to be supported by a dedicated Board and team who live and breathe our values for the benefit of our members.
"The challenges of the current economic climate dictate that it is imperative that Eventia offers the industry both visibility and a voice and we will continue to raise the importance of live events and face-to-face communication on a national platform.
"We want to achieve many things including the continued targeting of the corporate and association sectors for membership; greater networking and education opportunities; collaboration with other organisations in areas such as CPD and lobbying; and to continue offering best advice in any new legislation that is planned."
Stepping down from the board are Patrick Collins, Cath Cousins, Peter Jackson, Leigh Jagger, Hamish Reid and Aileen Reuter.
