Mansized launches personalised news page

LONDON - Mansized.co.uk, the website aimed at the thinking man, has introduced a personalised news section that enables members to create their own unique news page, covering anything from business to the bizarre.

The feature, at , can be customised to each member's preferences.

By selecting "customise this page" and then "add news fast", members can choose from more than 30 news categories, including arts, environment, cricket, football, films, money, rugby, TV, travel and work, each of which has several sub-categories.

Users can then select from suggested news feeds or choose their own, and will be continually updated with the latest stories for that news genre.

Members can further tailor the headlines they receive by typing in keywords, ensuring that they never miss stories on a certain actor, for example, or a specific sportsperson.

Will Callaghan, editor, started work on the feature in May this year, and hired Andy Jeffries of NextGenDevelopment to create it.

Callaghan said: "The idea for 'Your News' came from our readers. When we asked them how they wanted to receive their news, they said they wanted it to be personal and easy.

"We worked hard to put everything under as few buttons as possible and the result is a extremely flexible and simple to use system.

"Your News is just the first stage in a large scale programme to offer more personalised features throughout the site."

Mansized was launched by Callaghan in March 2006, after he spotted a gap in the market for websites and magazines that provide men with an intelligent read.

He previously edited the Men's Health website and left to start Mansized, which now attracts 165,000 unique users per month.

The free site provides members with reviews on games, DVDs, and music; advice from resident fitness, health and sex experts; and an active forum with regular giveaways.
