Lovefilm.com joins battle for online DVD rental market

LONDON – DVD rental website Lovefilm.com is to launch an advertising push featuring Capital's Johnny Vaughn, as it bids to gain a larger share in what is fast becoming a cluttered market.

kicks off the advertising campaign on Capital's radio stations next week,

fronted by the voice of Vaughn, the star of 95.8 Capital FM's recently re-launched breakfast show.

The website, which is part of Arts Alliance Media, offers people DVD rentals delivered to their homes from prices starting at £9.99 a month and is one of a number of online rental sites being launched this year.

Blockbuster, the high street rental giant announced it was launching a similar service last week, for which monthly fees will start at £13.99. Video Island and ScreenSelect, created by Amazon.co.uk founder Simon Murdoch, are also to operate in this space.

The advertising campaign for Lovefilm.com was created by the radio group's internet creative department Capital Ideas, and was bought by M2M, a division of Manning Gottlieb OMD. Stations that will carry the campaign will include Capital FM and Choice FM.
