ScreenSelect and In-Movies merge to create UK leader

LONDON - ScreenSelect, the online DVD rental service created by Amazon.co.uk founder Simon Murdoch, has merged with In-Movies to create the biggest service of its kind in the UK.

launched in September 2003 and boasts that it offers the largest DVD library on the planet, with more than 16,000 titles. In-Movies was founded in 1999 and was the first subscription-based DVD rental company in the UK. Founder Laurence Penn joins the ScreenSelect board with immediate effect.

According to Penn: "The success of Netflix in the US demonstrates that online rental has the potential to transform the way consumers watch, rent and own DVDs. ScreenSelect has the funding and the know-how to be as successful in the UK and this deal allows all of us at In-Movies to be part of the UK market leader."

ScreenSelect offers subscribers unlimited DVD rentals with no late fees for a sum of £14.99 a month.
