LoveFilm debuts on the iPad

LoveFilm, the film-rental and streaming service owned by Amazon, has launched its first iPad app as part of its ongoing strategy to be on as many platforms as possible.

Subscribers will be able to access titles including ‘A Single Man’, ‘The Chronicle of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' and 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’, from their tablet device.

The service is already available on Sony and Samsung’s connected TV sets and the PlayStation 3 games consoles.

Simon Calver, chief executive of LoveFilm, said: "LoveFilm on iPad is the latest step in giving film fans total control over their viewing schedule and our commitment to expanding the ways in which members can stream movies and TV series on a range of devices."

The app is available for free from the App Store today.

The launch follows an announcement made yesterday (29 September) that LoveFilm has struck a year-long content deal with StudioCanal, the film distributor, to bring titles, including 'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy' to its portfolio.
