Around 50,000 Londoners flocked to see the capital's famous Christmas lights switched on last night in what was the largest simultaneous switch-on in the event's 59-year history.

Lighting and marquee giant Piggotts was behind the spectacular display, which tied in with the world premiere of Disney's new 3D adaptation of A Christmas Carol in Leicester Square.

Meanwhile, integrated broadcast and communications firm The ADI Group supplied seven screens scattered between Oxford Street, Regent Street and St Paul's Cathedral.
