The magazine, which is part of IPC Media music and men's division IPC Ignite!, has promoted Duncan Baizley, who joined Loaded as chief sub-editor 12 months ago, to managing editor.
Previously Baizley worked as a music and film journalist at Venue, Bristol's Time Out, and was production editor on Future Publishing's unofficial PlayStation2 magazine, PSM2.
Stephen Worthy has been recruited as chief sub-editor, taking over from Baizley. Worthy served as production editor on Loaded's hugely successful one-offs, the Loaded Summer Special and the Loaded Big Book of Girls. Prior to this, he worked as a production editor on Mixmag, as well as managing and deputy editor on Ministry magazine.
Andrew Sumner, publishing manager of Loaded, said: "I'm proud to announce these senior appointments, bringing Loaded editorial back to full strength for 2003. Duncan has made a great job of managing Loaded's editorial budget since his appointment as acting managing editor in January. Despite scores of external applications for this position, it rapidly became apparent that he was the only man for the role."
Last month, Loaded poached News of the World's Martin Daubney to take up the post of deputy editor on the magazine. Daubney was the editor of Sin Bin, the Sunday newspaper's risque sports pages.
With a new team on board, IPC will be hoping that Loaded will be able to claw back some ground lost to rival FHM, which was up 8.7% year on year according to the latest ABC figures.
FHM's total circulation is now up to 620,226 compared with Loaded's 290,214. The gap between market leader FHM and Loaded is now a seemingly insurmountable 330,012 copies.
