FHM was up 6.8% in the six months and 8.7% year on year, according to the latest set of ABCs published today.
It was good news for FHM, which recorded only a small rise in circulation six months ago following a disastrous 20% fall. Its total circulation is now up to 620,226 from 580,738 six months ago. It comes after a well publicised and successful TV tie-up with Sky for its "High Street Honeys" campaign.
The news was not good for IPC Media's Loaded, which was down 6.10% in the six months and down 6% year-on-year to 290,214 from 309,041 last period. The news will be particularly disappointing for IPC because last period Loaded was fractionally up.
The gap between market leader FHM and Loaded is now an insurmountable 330,012 copies.
The circulation news was even more disappointing for the Dennis Publishing title, men's mag Maxim, which was down 7.4% period on period and a whopping 9.6% year-on-year to 250,119.
There were other big losers in the men's category. Front continued to lose ground falling 1.2% period on period and down 7.4% year-on-year to 142,287.
There was more bad news for IPC and the revolving door that has been style bible Wallpaper magazine, which was down a hammering 15.5% in the six months and down 16% year-on-year. Its post Tyler Brule circulation now stands at 110,811.
James Brown's IFG must be feeling rather good. Bizarre was up 8.8% in the six months, breaking the 100,000 barrier with its circulation hitting 105,620. Conde Nast's GQ recovered some ground rising 6.1% to 123,502 in the six months after its 7.6% fall last time putting it down 1.9% on the year.
From a lower start, The National Magazine Company saw Esquire's circulation rise 21.2% in the six months and 9.8% year-on-year to 68,075. Haymarket Publishing's gadget title Stuff did well also. It was up 6.3% period on period and 8.1% year on year to 60,117.
Despite having its circulation restated and being up 38.8% on the year, men's style bible Arena was still looking critical. In the six months, it was up 0.9% to 31,712, a rise of just 306 copies. Emap stablemate The Face continued its decline, dropping a massive 13.6% on period and 12.9% year-on-year to 42,242.
In the men's health sector Men's Health recorded a 1% rise to 218,740 and rival Men's Fitness was up by 1.8% to 50,943.
