Live Nation has run concerts in the region for five years. It expects to expand the new Ticketmaster Middle East service to other countries in the Middle East and North Africa.

Alan Ridgeway, president of international and emerging markets for Live Nation, said: "We have seen a significant increase in the number of concerts and sporting events taking place in the UAE and elsewhere in the region. I am pleased that we are now in a position to offer event organisers and ticket buyers in the region the level of service that they have grown accustomed to in our other markets around the globe."

The company will be based in Dubai Media City and led by David Grisham, who formerly worked for Ticketmaster in Canada.

Events on the new ticketmaster.ae site include Dubai Jazz Festival, Metallica, Chris Tucker and Creamfields.
