
Kim Gavin becomes artistic director for the closing ceremonies, famous for his work on with Take That – he was responsible for the huge elephant on The Circus tour – and has directed Brit Award performances, the Concert for Diana and the Help the Heroes Concert.
Es Devlin has been appointed as designer for the Olympic closing ceremony. Es has recently designed Lady Gaga's 'Monster Ball' US Tour, as well as tours for Muse, Kanye West, Take That and the Pet Shop Boys.
Finally, film composer and record producer David Arnold, who composed and produced five James Bond films, Independence Day and the newly released Simon Pegg and Nick Frost movie 'Paul', joins the team as music director for the Olympic and Paralympic closing ceremonies.
"What an unrivalled wealth of British creative brilliance," said mayor of London Boris Johnson.
"With such a team on board our opening and closing ceremonies will be the envy of the world. We have the best of British creating the spectacular bookends of our Games, I have no doubt this will be the very best Olympics and Paralympics for generations to come."
In addition to these appointments, the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony artistic director Danny Boyle has appointed Thomas Heatherwick to design the "Olympic Cauldron" for the Games.
