Liquid to handle Amano design as cafe chain expands

LONDON - Liquid Communications has been appointed by cafe brand Amano as it expands its footprint from two to 11 outlets in 2007.

The agency secured the brief for activity without a competitive pitch and will report into Amano's founders.

Jonathan Cooper, a founding partner in the EAT sandwich chain and professional baker, and Ed Bentley launched the Amano "all day eating" concept three years ago.

Amano prides itself on a "slow approach to fast food" with an emphasis on fresh ingredients and hand-made recipes.

There are currently Amano outlets on Clink Street near Borough Market and Harrow. An injection of capital will allow Amano to open up to nine new central London locations in 2007.

Liquid has been briefed to develop the look and feel for each new Amano outlet and to refresh the cafe's existing branding.

It will create and produce a range of materials to support the openings including in-store collateral and guides for staff and consumers. The agency will also develop Amano's existing loyalty scheme.

Cooper said: "Liquid has fantastic credentials working with entrepreneurs who have a track record for shaking up their sectors. It was quickly able to get under the skin of our concept and its strategic and creative suggestions will complement the Amano brand and help take it to its next stage."
