
Sky Arts took over the events space for three days to film Hey Diddly Dee, a dark comedy-drama that will air next month.
The former theatre, which was voted number six in Event’s Top 20 venues poll, was used by Sprout Pictures, the production company founded by Stephen Fry and Sandi Toksvig.
Hustle star, Marc Warren, wrote and directed the play which will be shown on Sky Arts’ second season of Playhouse Presents. It stars Minogue, Mathew Horne, Peter Serafinowicz, David Harewood, Paul Kaye and Lee Boardman.
The Mermaid opened as an events and conference space in 2011 after 60 years as a theatre. Brands including BBC, BT and Unilever have used its 600 person main auditorium.
