Jubilee concert to rock 10,000 people outside Buckingham Palace

Ten thousand people will be given a free 'Diamond ticket' to see artists including Elton John and Paul McCartney perform in front of the palace on 4 June.

The Queen and Prince Phillip are among members of the Royal Family who will attend the Diamond Jubilee Concert to celebrate the Queen’s 60-year reign through music from the last six decades.

As well as John and McCartney the concert will feature performances and collaborations from Shirley Bassey, Alfie Boe, Jools Holland, Jessie J, JLS, Tom Jones, Lang Lang, Annie Lennox, Madness, Cliff Richard and Ed Sheeran.

Organised by Buckingham Palace, the BBC and musician Gary Barlow, the show will take place in front of the palace around the Queen Victoria Memorial. Architect Mark Fisher has designed an outdoor stage which will spread a gold fan-shaped awning around the memorial, while projections will illuminate the palace and surroundings.

From today until 2 March, , which also grant entry to a Jubilee Picnic in the Buckingham Palace Gardens. Five thousand people will be allocated a ticket for themselves and a guest. Tickets will be allocated to reflect the spread of the population around the UK, and some charities will also be invited.

The concert will be broadcast live on BBC One, BBC One HD and on BBC Radio 2 and highlights will be played on ABC for US viewers on the following day.
