Johnston Press names new digital strategy chief

LONDON - Johnston Press has appointed Lori Cunningham, a former AOL UK strategy director, as its new digital strategy director.

Cunningham, who will join the regional media group on 10 March, will be responsible for developing the publisher's digital strategy.

Cunningham, who will report to Johnston Press chief executive Tim Bowdler, replaces Alex Green who left to join Virgin Media this month to head up the cable company's digital arm.

Johnston Press has enjoyed strong growth in digital revenues recently. During the five months to 30 November - the company's last financial update - its digital revenues grew by 35.3%, while its print ad revenues declined.

The company attributes rising digital revenues to its investment in website improvements and the launch of iAnnounce, which allows users to set up their own dedicated webpage of personal events.
