The news comes just days after the announcement that Mike Green, founder and chief executive of Callcredit Information Group, was stepping down to become non-executive chairman of the company.
In an email to Callcredit Information Group staff yesterday, new CEO John McAndrew wrote: "I write to advise you that after many years of exceptional service to Eurodirect and CIG both Janet and John Dobson have decided to retire from the business in June.
"Known to many of us over many years, I am sure you will join me in wishing them a long and happy retirement in the years to come."
Dobson's exit is the final step in a phased withdrawal from the company he co-founded 15 years ago. Last November, Dobson stepped down from the managing director role in favour of Caroline Worboys, then CEO of EuroDirect sister company Broadsystem.
During Dobson’s tenure at the EuroDirect helm, the company twice won the coveted Supplier of the Year prize in Marketing Direct’s Smart Awards. Clients include Npower and Royal Mail.
Dobson has been behind the launch of several successful supplier companies, starting with BDMS in 1983. In 1994 he met the three Green brothers and established EuroDirect and GMAP Consulting, subsequently bought out by Skipton Building Society in 1998. Dobson and his partners retained 20% of the company.
Interviewed by Marketing Direct in 2006 about the secret of his success, Dobson admited to coming close to losing his house at one early stage in his entrepreneurial career. "The overriding qualities you need are passion for what you are doing and enormous grit to get there. You might start off with one type of product or service and it might not work. But if you've got determination you'll adapt it to what clients do want ,and you'll succeed in a way you hadn’t envisaged. If you have no flexibility, you'll go bust."
