
A spokesman for Arqiva said Cresswell will be tasked with ensuring Arqiva maximises growth opportunities in the fast developing world of digital communications.
Arqiva owns much of the infrastructure behind broadcast services and wireless communications in the UK, including the TV digital switch over and operates an international satellite broadcast and communications business.
After 22 years at public service broadcaster ITV , after ruling himself out of the top job and announcing he would leave when a new appointment was made.
Bennie is leaving Arqvia after 32 years with the business. A spokesman for Arqiva said it was his decision to leave and he is looking to explore other projects.

Arqvia has turnover approaching £850m, with over 2000 employees at around 80 locations in the UK, Europe and the US, and runs a range of critical national infrastructure projects.
